Russell Harry Petersen

Russell Harry Petersen, 86, died August 9, 2026. Born August 16, 1939, Russell was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and lived in Massachusetts, Indiana, New Hampshire, Minnesota, and Michigan and later was a resident of Rochester, Michigan.

Russell graduated from Kelloggsville High School, where he was in the band and played the clarinet. An engineer by trade, Russell built a career defined by skill, persistence, and pride in work done well. He worked for Honeywell for 25 years, owned LRP Technology for 15 years, and later worked at Federal Mogul for just under ten years, showing a consistent commitment to building, solving, and seeing things through.

Russell shared his life with his wife, Josephine, and together they created a family anchored in love and enduring connection. He is survived by his daughters Marilyn (Randy) Hukriede, Linda Lee, Kimberly (Tony) Jurado, Jem Montorrie, and Iris (Marc) Czygan; 6 grandsons; 6 granddaughters; and 14 great grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by his mother Margarite Petersen, his father Lawrence Petersen, and his brother Lawrence Petersen.

In the chapters of life lived away from work, Russell found joy on the water and in the open road. He loved boating and owned a boat called the “No Problem” for 19 years. He and Josephine went on 50 cruises together, collecting not just miles but moments. And he never lost his appreciation for speed and style, especially when it came to fast cars, most of all his red Mustang.
