Sherlie was born the daughter of Floyd and Blanche (Pape) Sauerbrei on March 18, 1939, in Tripoli, Iowa. She graduated from Tripoli High School in 1957. Sherlie worked as a secretary for Tripoli High School, Waverly – Shell Rock High School, the Bremer County Sheriff, and the Waverly Police Department.
Sherlie was proceeded in the death by her parents; husband Harold; sister Jean (Sauerbrei) Biermann; and brothers Leo Sauerbrei and Ray Sauerbrei.
Sherlie is survived by her son Mitch; 4 grandchildren Erica (Ben) Weber of Rochester Hills, Michigan; Alexander (Michelle) Doepke of Rochester Hills; Zachary (Andie) Doepke of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Rachel Doepke of Rochester Hills; and 3 great-grandchildren Logan, Skylar, and Brooklyn Doepke.
A committal service will be held on Thursday April 30, 2026, at 1 pm at Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Road in Holly, Michigan.
