Sherry was born on August 22, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Anna Williams. As a young girl, she excelled in the dramatic arts including ballet and tap dancing class. Sherry proudly attended Greenfield Park Elementary School in Detroit and often spoke fondly of her time and friends there. On September 20, 1968, Sherry married the “boy next door”, Marvin Ray McLendon, who passed away in 2020. Together, Sherry and Ray had two daughters Jackie and Darlene and later moved to Utica, Michigan.
Sherry was particularly proud of her work as a salesperson for the J.L. Hudson Company in the 1980s and enjoyed being creative in whatever she did. She was a talented seamstress and sewed beautiful doll clothes and Halloween costumes for her young daughters, and later, for her grandchildren. She was known to be outgoing and very talkative, even as a child, and she cherished the many special occasions shared with her daughters, family and friends. As a gifted artist, Sherry spent her later years painting and will be remembered by her beautiful watercolor scenes. She shared her love for arts and crafts with her grandchildren on the frequent visits she and Ray made to Cleveland, Ohio. She loved ice-cream, cheeseburgers and especially, Coca-Cola. She will be missed.
Sherry is survived by her two loving daughters, Jackie (Wayde) Thomann and Darlene (Pete) Ward, and her cherished grandchildren, Kate (Stephen) Foley and Adam Ward. She also leaves behind her dear sister Carol Solomon.
A memorial service for Sherry will be held at a later date.
