Her childhood years were developed in Grays Flat and she attended school in Grant Town, both of West Virginia. It was in high school that she met and later married Alvin Neal Morrison. This union lasted 59 years; until his passing in 1999.
As young adults, they left West Virginia and moved to Detroit, Michigan; finally settling in Ferndale, (Royal Oak Township) Michigan where they lived for nearly 60 years. They were blessed with a son, Alvin Neal Morrison, Jr., and daughter, Krystal "Angie" Morrison.
Ms. Morrison joined Presentation/Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in 1955 and was a member for many years.
She possessed a profound understanding across multiple disciplines, seamlessly weaving knowledge from diverse fields. In other words, she could, "turn a dime into a dollar" by making the most of the opportunities afforded her.
One of her greatest passions was mastering the art of cooking. She was the lead chef for 30 years at the prominent Savoyard Club, known for its fine dining and elegant atmosphere, located in downtown Detroit's Buhl Building. During her tenure, she attended school where she studied culinary arts. Her specialties were fried chicken, greens, and sweet potato pie! She loved to entertain and was an exceptional host. Her door was always open to family and friends and delicious food was a staple.
She had a wealth of wisdom and shared it freely in the most captivating way; particularly attracting the attention of the younger generation. They were enthralled with the energy, conciseness, and charm with how she communicated.
For over 20 years, she belonged to the "Fantastic Ladies Club", where she enjoyed their monthly card games and travel to various local casinos within Michigan.
On November 16, 2024, she was given her wings at the blessed age of 98. She leaves to cherish her memories, son Alvin (Vanessa) and daughter, Krystal: 3 grandchildren; Brian Morrison (Brittnie), Joanna Schneider (Zach), and Kayla Morrison; 3 great grandchildren, Brian A. Morrison, Braylen Morrison, and Skyler Schneider; two sisters, Yvette Long (Mills) and Paula Davison; and many relatives and friends.
