He graduated from Lamphere High School in Madison Heights, Class of 1962, and then enlisted in the US Army. from an early age and eventually played for the Detroit Athletic League where his team would practice against Gordie Howe and the Red Wings. Stan always made sure there was an ice rink in his yard, a lined baseball diamond or football field in the park across from his home for his sons
and the neighborhood gang to enjoy.
