Thomas Pierce Hallett

Thomas Pierce Hallett, 18 months, of Royal Oak, MI, passed away on November 5, 2015. He greeted the world with a smile and had a fondness and love for everyone he met. He is survived by his mother and father, Laura and Adam Hallett; his grandmother, Debbie Hallett, and grandparents Shirley and Gil Stephison. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Thomas W. Hallett.

The viewing will take place 2 p.m.–6 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, and the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 9 at Pixley Funeral Home in Rochester, MI (322 University Dr., Rochester, MI). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Williams Syndrome Association in Thomas' name.

Tommy came into the world on April 12, 2014 and immediately filled it with a particular kind of joy. Nobody was a stranger to him, and he greeted everyone with an infectious smile and his trademark "hi." At six weeks old, he was diagnosed with Williams Syndrome, a condition characterized by extreme empathy, a talent for music, and a love of company. "Hi" wasn't his first word, but it was his favorite. It guaranteed a response and a connection with people. He said it a lot, and he said it to everyone.

Mom, first thing in the morning. "Hi."

Friends coming over to the house. "Hi."

Gas station clerks. "Hi."

Despite some physical limitations, he jumped into anything with everything he had, whether that meant moving around the house with his little walker or using his adorable smile to get people to pick him up. He loved everyone and everyone loved him, and he became the perfect picture of what Williams children could accomplish. In his short time, he taught us so much about an inspiring community of people and encouraged us to meet the world with a little more love and a big smile.
