

Born in Harbin, China, on November 5, 1961, Yaomin pursued a lifelong passion for learning, earning his doctorate from the University of Kentucky and establishing himself as a distinguished engineer and scholar.
Yaomin was an accomplished automotive engineer, holding over 20 patents that reflected his ingenuity and dedication to advancing the field. His career later led him to Kettering University, where he shared his expertise as a professor of mechanical engineering, inspiring countless students with his knowledge and mentorship.
Beyond his professional achievements, Yaomin cherished life’s simple joys. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and gardening, and he was a devoted fan and player of basketball, particularly proud of his lifelong connection to University of Kentucky basketball.
Yaomin shared nearly 40 years of love and partnership with his beloved wife, Hong Jiang. He is survived by his devoted children, John Dong and Wendy Dong, as well as his siblings.
He will be laid to rest at Van Hoosen Jones Stoney Creek Cemetery.
