Andy is survived by his four children, Margaret (Mark), Andrew, David (Susie), and Andria (CJ), his multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and friends and family. He will be laid to rest at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY. He joins his parents, many siblings, his late wife, Betty, and his partner of many years, Gerianne, in peace.
Andy embodied the Italian saying, "Chi ha il cuore leggero non invecchia mai”(“He who has a light heart never grows old”). He could always make those around him smile, often had a mischievous twinkle in his eye, and his laughter was contagious. His infectious joy for life will be missed.
Growing up on his parents’ farm during the Great Depression instilled a tireless work ethic and enduring belief that nothing should be wasted, including time. He loved taking long road trips into the wilderness, playing with his kids, going to horse races, and lounging with his dogs in the sun.
He was a “jack of all trades” - over the years, he was a coal miner, business owner, and Wegmans truck driver. He was an avid Buffalo Bills fan, woodworker, hunter, and fisherman. Andy liked hanging with his buddies searching for deals at auctions and estate sales. He was one of the original members of his local craft antique co-op and really enjoyed the decades spent with his co-vendors. He was also a member of the regional metal-detecting group, and spent many sunny days at the beach searching for treasure.
He was still fixing his cars, doing yard work, and cleaning the gutters on his home at 91 years old - his tenacity was inspiring.
Andy lived his life on his own terms and never hesitated to speak his mind. Once he decided to do something, there was little chance of changing it. He leaves a legacy of humor, hard work, and friendship. Andy was a singular man and he will live in our hearts forever.
