Arsene (Art), came to this country from his homeland of Holland when he was 16. He used his work ethic and discipline finding work as a carpenter, serving in the U.S. Air Force, and later finding his career job at the Rochester Telephone company. He would soon after marry his wife of 63 years, Mary, and successfully raise 4 children being the sole provider for the family of 6. He lived a quiet life during his retirement, spending half of the year in his Florida home and the other half in his summer home in Clayton, NY. He enjoyed relaxing with his morning coffee, being outdoors near the river, reading, playing cards, and doing puzzles.
Art will be remembered as a quiet, hardworking man with a kind heart, always willing to help others, full of energy, and a beloved husband and father who dedicated himself to family and friends.
Thank you, Dad, we will always be thankful for your life, the hard-working example you set, and we will always love you!
There will be celebration of life for both Art and Mary Blaakman at the Grandview Lodge at Powder Mill Park on Sunday, August 23rd from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
