Bonnie was born on December 23, 1937, in Ashville, New York, to Ray and Genevieve Johnson. She grew up on the family’s dairy farm alongside her five siblings, where she learned the value of hard work, faith, and family. After graduating from Southwestern High School, she courageously moved to Rochester, New York, at just 17 to pursue training as a Radiologic Technologist at Rochester General Hospital. Bonnie went on to enjoy more than 20 years in a fulfilling career in Radiology before later transitioning into the banking industry.
Bonnie met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Frudd, at a softball game on the shores of Chautauqua Lake. They married during a blizzard on November 24, 1956 — a story they fondly recalled, joking that it had “been a storm ever since.” Together, they made their home in Chili, New York, where they raised their two daughters, Melanie and Kimberly.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bonnie poured her heart into her family. She was an avid reader, a talented cook, and especially known for her famous rice pudding. She found joy in sharing her love of cooking and reading with her daughters and grandchildren.
Bonnie’s deep faith guided her throughout her life. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Pearce Memorial Free Methodist Church for over 60 years. Through the church’s Young Married Couples Sunday School Class, Bonnie and Bob formed many of their dearest lifelong friendships. She loved camping, crafting, gardening, and, of course, the countless potlucks shared with friends.
Bonnie and Bob spent many years as snowbirds in Florida, where she continued to give of herself through volunteer work at a women’s prison and an after-school program.
An adventurous spirit at heart, Bonnie traveled extensively with family and friends over the years. Among her many destinations, St. Petersburg, Russia, held a special place in her heart. She was always eager to plan her next journey, often found flipping through travel brochures with excitement and curiosity.
Bonnie will be remembered for her unwavering love for her family, her resilience, her contagious laughter, and her generous spirit. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband Bob; her daughters Melanie (Craig) and Kimberly (Dave); her grandchildren Janelle (Alex), Bryan (Jessica), Kelsey, and Rob (Sarah); and her great-grandchildren Penelope, Logan, Landon, Josephine, Ava, Everleigh, and Everett. Her legacy of love, laughter, and faith will continue to live on in all who knew and cherished her.
Calling hours will be held at Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home, located at 2125 Chili Ave, Rochester, New York, 14624, on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A memorial service will take place at the Funeral Home on Sunday, November 16, 2025, starting at 1:00 pm.
