

Carol was born and raised in Rochester, the daughter of the late Walter & Velma [Hunt] Statt. She graduated from Nazareth College with a bachelor’s degree and received her master’s degree in teaching and education from the University of Brockport. Carol would enjoy a career teaching Catholic grade school at Holy Ghost School and St. Theodore’s. She would also enjoy working part-time as a realtor for Nothnagle Realty for several years.
Carol had a love of gardening and growing all kinds of vegetables at home. She loved to travel the world with her husband, Charlie. Together they would enjoy trips and cruises to England, Africa, South America, and the Caribbean.
Canandaigua Lake held a special place in her heart, as she and Charlie had a condo there where they enjoyed many Lake activities. They also enjoyed the annual Rochester Jazz Festival every summer. She had a great love of music and theater. She also took pleasure in reading newspapers, magazines and solving puzzles.
She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Charles H. Grotke; brothers-in-law, Robert (Lynda) Grotke and Donald (Debbie) Grotke; uncle, Joseph Statt; aunt, Jane Richardson; as well as numerous cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents.
Relatives and friends may call on Monday, July 20th, from 4-7PM at the Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home, 2125 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 21st, at 10:00AM at St. Pius X Church, 3010 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624. Interment to follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery.
