Caroline Elizabeth Caggiano

Caroline Elizabeth Caggiano, Carol to her friends and family, passed on September 9, 2026, in her sleep at the age of 93. She was very much loved by her 6 children, 19 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, in-laws, and the many people whose life she touched as a friend and teacher.

Carol was born in Santa Monica (California) where she met a young Marine, Anthony Caggiano, from New York City. After getting married, they raised their 6 children on Long Island, where she taught kindergarten for many years. After her husband Anthony passed away at 58, she spent time living in Yorktown (Virginia), Atlantic Beach (Florida), Ridge and Walworth (New York), always near or with at least one of her children.

She loved being active and was always looking to play cards or board games. She cared very much for people and was always willing to help where she could. Carol made friends to last a lifetime.

She did not want people to mourn her, but to celebrate the life that she lived. She will be deeply missed by all those who had the fortune of knowing her.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lutheran World Relief, the Arbor Day Foundation, or the USO. Three charities in which she strongly believed.
