Cynthia S. Murphy

Born June 15, 1935, Cynthia dedicated her life to caring for others. A graduate of St. Mary’s School of Nursing, Class of 1956, she served as a Registered Nurse in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, bringing compassion, skill, and comfort to countless patients and families throughout her career.

Cynthia was a devoted Christian whose faith guided her life and shaped the love and care she showed to those around her. Beyond her nursing career, she found joy in gardening, baking, and creating a loving home for her family. Of all her accomplishments, raising and caring for her children remained among her greatest joys and blessings.

She is survived by her beloved husband, David Murphy of Rochester; and her children, Mark Murphy and his life partner, Victoria Paradise, of St. Petersburg, FL; John Murphy and his wife, Gwen Murphy, of Rochester; Maura Murphy and her husband, Scott Dorman, of Atlanta, GA; along with numerous family and friends who will deeply miss her kindness, strength, and loving spirit.

Cynthia’s life was one of service – to her profession, to her faith, and most importantly to those she loved.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the Parish of the Holy Family, 4100 Lyell Rd, Rochester, NY 14606. Inurnment to follow at Holy Ghost Cemetery, Coldwater Rd., Gates, NY.
