Eleanor M. Nichols

Eleanor M. “Ellie” Nichols (Grice) (DeMay) of Avoca, formerly of Avon, and Bradenton, FL, passed quietly at home Friday, August 17, 2012 with her family present, at age 78, after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by daughters, Sharon Hill of Avon, Sheila Groh of Avoca, Sandra (Craig) Wilkins of Akron, NY, Susan Wheeler of Avoca, Shelley (Donald) Freeman of Sarasota, FL; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Ray) McPeek of Ohio, Pauline Silvernail of FL, and Mildred Tullar of East Pembroke; dear friend, Cheryl Rutherford. Predeceased by her parents, Ida and Frank Grice; and brothers, Glenn, Richard, and Robert Grice. Ellie was born at home in East Pembroke, which was normal for the time. She retired from AT&T as a telephone operator. Her life’s passions were animals, her faith, and most of all, her family.
