Francis W. McCoy
April 2, 1925 – June 12, 2018
Chili: Passed away peacefully from this earth on Tuesday, June 12, 2018, surrounded by family at Unity Hospital, Rochester, NY, at the age of 93. On this day the world lost one of the last true “gentlemen.” Devoted, loving, God-fearing, humble and hard-working only begin to describe this husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, good neighbor and friend to many.
Born April 2, 1925 to Frank and Dorothy Bass McCoy in Orleans (suburb of Watertown), NY, he married Arlene Hudson on May 31, 1947. Francis spent the majority of his life in Jefferson County, NY. He was a supervising electrician for St. Regis (Champion) Paper Company and practiced his trade even after retirement, always helping family and friends.
He and his wife moved to Chili, NY, in 1990 to be near their grandchildren. He was a devoted member of St. Pius the X Catholic Church in Chili for 28 years. His secret to his longevity was love of family and working hard.
His absence leaves a hole in our hearts that can never be filled except in knowing that he is reunited with the love of his life, Arlene.
He is survived by his sons, Donald (Tina) McCoy of LeRoy, and Charles (Laura) McCoy of Rochester; grandchildren, Matthew (Nicole) McCoy of Webster, Cassandra (Mark) McCoy-Mutka of North Chili, Curtis A. McCoy of Wilmington, DE, and Justine McCoy of Boynton Beach, FL; great-grandchildren, Carter and Savannah McCoy; daughter-in-law, Jill Breckenridge McCoy; siblings, Neil McCoy of Gouverneur, NY, Helen (Aden) McWayne of Sackets Harbor, Art (Joyce) McCoy of Rochester and Esther Serafine of Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces/nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Arlene Hudson McCoy, parents, Frank and Dorothy Bass McCoy, and siblings, Paul (Gloria) McCoy, Joan Boring, and Mary Joyner.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, June 16th from 5-8PM at the Funeral Home of ALVAH HALLORAN & SON, 2125 Chili Ave., Gates. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 18th at 10:00AM at St. Pius the X Church, 3010 Chili Ave., Chili. Interment will take place in the Sanford Corners Cemetery in Calcium, NY.

Francis W. McCoy
June 13, 2018
So many memories of Francis along with my other strong and upstanding uncles going back to all the McCoy get-togethers at the homestead at Point Vivian. I am glad to still remember those impressionable years that Francis, Paul, Neal, and David provided fine examples mirroring those that my Dad impressed upon me, and also left for me to follow. The family get-togethers are not nearly frequent enough as time marches on. Until we meet again. R.I.P.
