Francis was a mechanic all his life and did a tour in the US Army during the Vietnam War but was stationed in Germany.
He was born Francis Joseph Plunkett III in Long Island, NY. He was predeceased by both parents Francis J. Plunkett Jr. and Evelyn M. (Sandstad) Plunkett.
He was a great man, so kind, caring and loving. He was known as a big teddy bear to his children. If you needed help he always stepped up and did what he could. He had recently retired on November 27, 2015.
Dad and mom had left for vacation on Saturday December 5, 2015 driving from Rochester, NY to Lakeland, FL to visit family. They arrived in Brooksville, FL on Monday December 7, 2015 to stop for gas and during that time is when he had a massive heart attack. Mom did CPR and paramedics were called, workers at the station and other patrons stopped and helped mom as much as possible. He was taken to the hospital by paramedics and passed away after many attempts to revive him. Dad was a diabetic but heart problems had not been an issue. This was very much sudden and unexpected. He is missed and we all love him very much.
A private viewing is being held on Sunday December 13, 2015 at Alva Halloran & Son Funeral Home on Chili Avenue in Rochester, NY.
We’re all sad he was not home with us to say goodbye but know we will see him again in Heaven. I truly believe he did not suffer and that he was greeted in heaven by his parents. I know he’s looking down and loving us all every day.
Dad will never be forgotten and always loved and missed. We say thank you dad for loving and caring for us all. And the family would like to thank everyone for their condolences and kind words.
In lieu of flowers, contributions for funeral funds may be made to Francis’ family or donations may be made in Francis' name to The American Diabetes Association
