George Harvey Emmons
October 28, 1936 – July 29, 2019
George H. Emmons, of North Chili, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2019, at the age of 82.
Born in Lockport, NY, he was predeceased by his parents, Willard and Catherine, and his brother, Bud. He is survived by his wife, Marilynne, and two sons, Mark (Jennie) and Jeff (Lisa); as well as six grandchildren: Elizabeth, Evelyn, Ella, Estelle, John, and Alex. He is also survived by a niece and two nephews: Linda (Dana), Bruce (Brenda) and Jay (Crystal).
George received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and a Masters in Industrial Statistics from the University of Rochester, where he also enrolled in the R.O.T.C. program. He worked for General Motors and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
His hobbies included: sailing at the Brockport Yacht Club, enjoying time with his sons in Algonquin, biking, theater at Niagara-on-the-Lake, winters in Stuart, FL, and spending time with his favorite Bedlington Terrier, Grimsby.
George has been described by family as a gentle, kind man with a great sense of humor and beautiful smile, who loved God and country. He will be sorely missed, but God has welcomed him home with “Well done good and faithful servant!”
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 10th, at 11 a.m., at Pearce Memorial Church in North Chili. Memorial gifts may be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
