Harry T. Ayers
February 10, 1928 – October 29, 2020
Harry T. Ayers, of Churchville, NY, formerly from Donora, PA and Moore Haven, FL, passed away on Thursday, October 29th at age 92, after a short illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alta Ayers, in December of 2019. Harry is survived by his daughter, Pattie (Sam) Fao, sons Brian (Patti) Ayers and Joshua (Grace) Ayers, and step children Lana Kuhns and Lisa (Terrence) Brown, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harry grew up in the music business, selling and repairing pianos, organs and band instruments, while working at Ayers Music Center in Donora, PA, which his father owned. After graduating with a Business Degree from Washington and Jefferson College, his passion was still music, so he took over the music store from his father. Harry also became a respected Master Piano Tuner, and was busy every day in local homes, schools and churches, while his mother tended the store.
One of Harry’s favorite pastimes was watching football, and coming from Southwestern Pennsylvania, his team was the Pittsburgh Steelers! When he moved up to Churchville last year, he had to learn to watch the Buffalo Bills as well, since the Steelers were not always shown on local TV stations. He was adjusting, but it just wasn’t the same! Harry also loved horses and the country, and he lived much of his life on a little farm in Daisytown, Pennsylvania, along with two horses and lot of pastures to take care of. Harry and Alta finally got tired of the cold weather in the North, and they decided to move to a little town in the middle of Florida. They loved the peace and quiet, and the great weather as well! A limited family gathering will be held, and Harry will be laid to rest in the Monongahela Cemetery in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. A celebration of life for Harry & Alta will be held at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his memory to Community Christian Church, 2647 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY, 14624.
