Ilse was born on November 17, 1934, in Glasofen, Germany, but lived most of her adult life in Florida where she enthusiastically opened her home to any family and friends wishing to enjoy the sunshine she so loved. In 2016, she moved to Rochester be near family.
She will be forever remembered and cherished for her wonderful sense of humor and seemingly endless generosity. She lived a life of hard work but enjoyed and found satisfaction in it. She also loved a good celebration and rejoiced in life through faith, family, many wonderful friends and great food.
Ilse loved her family dearly and adored her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter Susanna Donetz; her daughter Doris Bubie and husband Walter Bubie; her three grandchildren, Adrian Bubie, Alexander Matula and Nicole Bubie; her brother Bernd Baumann and his wife Christa, and nieces and nephews in Germany and Austria.
She was predeceased by her son Joachim (John) Donetz; her brother Herbert Baumann and his wife Ruth; and her brother Erhard Baumann.
Ilse’s family is deeply grateful to the amazing staff at Wegman Family Cottages at Park Ridge Living Center and the staff from Rochester Regional Health Hospice for all the compassion and care they provided while Ilse navigated the most challenging part of her long journey living with Parkinsonism.
Family and friends are invited to attend Ilse’s funeral service at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 6020 Pittsford-Palmyra Road in Fairport on Friday January 24 at 10AM.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Ilse are asked to consider a special donation to their place of worship, or in supporting Parkinson’s research, or to a local Hospice organization.
