December 6, 1925November 29, 2019

Janice Anita Whiteman House, 93, of Rochester, NY, left this earth on November 29, 2019 to be reunited with the love of her life, her husband, Glenn Russel House and her newly found Saviour Jesus.

Born December 6, 1925 in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of Edwin Pliny and Catherine Beulah Whitman and sister to Donald Whiteman. She attended #16 elementary school, West High School both in Rochester and graduated from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH in 1947. During World War II, she contributed to the war effort by being a penpal to a number of military servicemen before marriage. She taught sewing in the summers for the Singer Sewing Machine Company and worked at the Rochester Savings Bank downtown until her marriage to Glenn R. House in 1951. She raised her three daughters sewing most of their dresses and costumes. She was an excellent artist and stickler for manners.

Later in life, (1971-1975) she again taught sewing at the YMCA and tailored suits for distinguished women.

Her pride and joy for 42 years was her summer cottage in Old Forge, NY, in the Adirondack Mountains.

As a child, Janice attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church on Thurston Road. Janice served at Genesee Baptist Church on Brooks Avenue as a Sunday School teacher and the White Cross for over 40 years, then transferring to First Baptist Church in Chili on Chili Avenue before finding her Lord and Savior at the age of 93.

She leaves behind three great-grandchildren; Brayden Joseph, Sophie Rae, and Benjamin Ryan Smith, three grandchildren; Clint Cooper of Etowah, TN, Ariana (Branden) Smith of Hilton, NY, Alissa Impellizzeri of Hilton, NY, three daughters; Nancy Jane House of Frederick, MD, Beverly Jean (Fred) Cooper of Athens, TN, and Audrey Joan (the late Joseph) Impellizzeri of Hilton, NY and many family members in and out of state. Janice's daughters want to acknowledge her dearest niece, Cheryl Busch, who has been a constant source of love and support to our family.

Internment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in a private ceremony. A Memorial Service will be held in May 2020 at a yet to be determined location in Rochester, NY.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home, 2125 Chili Avenue, Rochester, NY 14624.
