She is pre-deceased by her parents Walter and Ann Lang; her sisters, Corinne and Jane; her brothers Norman, Gordon and Raymond; her husband, Robert, and their son, Geoffrey.
She is survived by her children: Susan Gresens, and husband Mark Wolfire, and Chris and his
wife Julie; by her grandchildren: Laura and husband Spencer Hoyt, Christopher and
wife Hannah, and by her great-grandchildren: George, Madeleine and Chloe. Joan was always
sweet and caring and she will be deeply missed by her whole family of nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Joan spent most of her life in and around the Rochester area. She graduated from Rochester
Institute of Technology and worked as a commercial artist for the Todd Company before she
married and devoted the rest of her life to her family. She loved children and found deep
satisfaction in nurturing her children and grandchildren. Even in her later years, her warm smiles were given to the great-grandchildren with each visit. She kept us all in touch with visits to her siblings and family gatherings at “The Farm”. Joan continued to enjoy painting with her
friends at a local Art Club, and found delight in gardening and caring for pets and wild creatures
in the yard. In her last years she was fortunate to be able to live close to Chris and Julie and
family in Texas.
Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, July 10th, from 10-11am, at the Funeral Home of Alvah Halloran & Son, 2125 Chili Ave. Rochester, NY 14624, where a celebration of her life will be held immediately following at 11:00am. Interment will follow in the Creekside Cemetery in Churchville, NY.
