Mary Ferugia, beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 17, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Surrounded by the love of her family, Mary left this world with the same strength and resilience that she carried throughout her life.
She is survived by her parents Mae and Jim Hilbert; husband Michael; Children Matthew, Nicole, Christina (Dan), and Julie; grandchildren Micah and Bria; brothers Jim (Brenda) and Frank (Maria) and many nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was an active and devoted member of her church. She found strength, purpose, and joy in her faith, and gave back generously through volunteering, fellowship, and constant support for those in need. Her church family was an important part of her life.
Mary was blessed to meet the love of her life, Michael Ferugia, with whom she shared a beautiful and enduring marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and partnership.
Mary’s greatest joy came from her family. Mary and Michael raised four wonderful children, who became the heart of their world and the greatest testament to the love they shared. Mary also had two grandchildren, Micah and Bria, whom she considered the light of her life. She treasured celebrating their accomplishments, cheering them on, and surrounding them with boundless love. Her face lit up whenever she spoke of them, and her pride in them was evident to all who knew her.
Throughout her journey, Mary was uplifted by an incredible circle of support. Her lifelong tribe of high school friends, her Faun Lake crew, and her loving family surrounded her with strength, laughter, and unwavering encouragement. Their constant presence, prayers, and companionship helped carry her through some of her toughest days, and she adored each one of them for the joy and comfort they brought into her life.
Mary had spunk for life that showed in the things she loved most. Traveling to new places, enjoying weekend trips to Faun Lake, tending to her garden, and finding joy in the simple pleasure of shopping trips. Whether she was exploring somewhere new, nurturing her plants, or browsing her favorite stores, she embraced it all with enthusiasm and a smile.
Mary approached her illness with bravery and hope, showing extraordinary perseverance through every challenge. Even in her hardest moments, she continued to offer love, wisdom, and support to those around her.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her absence leaves an irreplaceable void. Her legacy of compassion, strength, faith, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the stories shared, the traditions carried forward, and the countless memories held close by family and friends.
May she now rest in peace, free from pain, reunited with those who went before her, and forever hold a place in the hearts of all who loved her.
