Born in Slayden, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Sam Thompson and Addie Mae Queen Thompson. She shared 65 years of marriage with her beloved husband, the late Bishop Oce Jones. As First Lady and pastor’s wife, she served alongside him in ministry for 50 years, touching the lives of many.
A devoted wife and cherished mother, she leaves a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.
In her later years, she served alongside her husband at Christ Tabernacle Church in Tampa, Florida, where he was pastor and founder. Before that, she served as Mother and First Lady of Christ Tabernacle Church in Rochester, New York.
Mother Mattie Jones is survived by her five children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Charles Jones, and her siblings.
A wake and funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Christ Tabernacle Apostolic Faith Church, 206 Norton Street, Rochester, New York. The viewing will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest with her husband at White Haven Memorial Park.
