March 12, 1948 – October 7, 2025
Thomas William Glanville, a devoted husband, father, brother, and innovator, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 77.
Tom was predeceased by his beloved parents, Bernice and Wilbert Glanville, and his brother William. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lia; his sons Tom (Shannon) and Peter; his siblings Susan, Stephen, and Daniel; his sister-in-law Suzanne; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins across the United States and Canada.
Born with a curious mind and a competitive spirit, Tom pursued a career at Eastman Kodak Company, where his ingenuity earned him seven patents—each a testament to his dedication and talent. His passion for design and innovation extended beyond the workplace: together with his family, he built a hydroplane boat, a labor of love now proudly displayed at the Finger Lakes Boating Museum in Hammondsport, NY.
In his 50s and 60s, Tom discovered a new passion—vintage sports car racing. When his older brother Bill took up the sport, Tom became his head crew chief, relishing the role and the time spent together. After Bill’s passing, Tom carried on the Glanville racing spirit, taking the wheel of Bill’s white MG Midget and racing in Connecticut, Canada, and frequently at Watkins Glen. He formed lasting friendships in the vintage racing community and gathered monthly at the Old Toad pub, where a booth dedicated to Bill—complete with his photo—became a cherished meeting place.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Pet Pride of NY in Tom’s honor—reflecting his gentle heart and love for dogs and cats.
Tom will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever cherished.
Tom’s life story will be shared during calling hours starting at 11am, followed by a short service on Saturday, December 13th at the Alvah Halloran & Son Funeral Home. Family, friends, and all whose lives he touched are welcome to attend and celebrate his legacy.
