Virginia (Schaeffer) Cook died peacefully at home Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at age 91. Predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Gerard Cook; her parents, Joseph and Gertrude Schaeffer; and siblings, Francis Schaeffer, Sr. Monica Schaeffer, SSJ, and Rita Schaeffer. She is survived by her children, Peter Cook, Anne (Kevin) Moore, Mark (Blynn Nelson) Cook, and Matthew Cook; grandchildren, Nathaniel, James, Christian, Caroline, Jarrett, and Grace; brother-in-law, James Cook; and several nieces and nephews including Thomas Schaeffer and Gerard Schaeffer. The family would like to thank Toni and Elisabeth Boyd for the compassionate care given to Virginia during the last eight years.
No prior visitation. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, 11am at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 296 Flower City Park, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
