He was the husband of his beloved late wife of 38 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Caprio Myott (d. 2022). Born on January 3, 1940, in Springfield, MA, Brent was the eldest child of Wallace Eugene and Dorothy Aldrich Bartlett Myott. Raised in Long Island, he was a member of the first graduating class of West Islip High School in 1958 and he was a 1962 graduate of Ohio University in Athens, OH where he was a member of the Theta Chapter of Sigma Theta Epsilon Christian fraternity. He worked for General Motors in Pontiac, MI and then 25 years with Xerox Corporation in Webster, NY. He lived in the greater Rochester area for nearly 55 years. After retirement, he enjoyed being a DJ in local bars and restaurants throughout the Rochester area.
Brent was a larger than life storyteller, a lover of music of various genres, and a loyal fan of the Buffalo Bills. He loved Chevy cars and a good steak. He was most comfortable being where the action was – he was always up for a party, a card game, or anything and everything social. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing football, baseball, softball, and golf. He and Betty enjoyed bowling and traveling together, where they often took the longer “scenic” route. He never met a stranger. He enjoyed various administrative opportunities, including serving in Kiwanis, writing for his high school alum newsletter, and serving on the resident council of his nursing home. While living in the nursing home, he began attending Bible study for the first time in his adult life, seeking to know more about Christ and God’s Word.
Brent is survived by his three children with his first wife, Claudia Belle Rice Myott (d. 2021) - Scott A. Myott (Sara) of Inman, SC; Anne W. Swanson (Tim) of Oak Ridge, NC; and David W. Myott (Mariann) of Riverview, FL. He is also survived by Betty’s daughter, Tina F. Longwell of Rochester, NY. He is survived by 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and his sister, Connie LaRosa (Bob) of Oak Beach, NY.
A private family service will be held for Brent at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Brent’s name to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
