Alonza Blair Bequeath, 85, of Monaca, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 18, 1926 in Bedford, PA, son of the late Alonza and Margaret (Scheid) Bequeath.
Blair was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and he loved his family. Blair was an avid bowler and also enjoyed working on cars. He was the secretary and treasurer of the Monaca Community Bowling League, Past President of the Rochester Civic Bowling League and was the director of the Beaver County Bowling Association. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a Foreman with ARCO Polymers. He was a proud veteran having served in the US Army during WW II. He was also a member of the Monaca United Methodist Church, the Monaca VFW and PNA of Monaca.
Blair was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years: Polly (Diehl) Bequeath; as well as four sisters, Nannie Truax, Alvera Diehl, Louise Brendle and Ruth Warsing.
He is survived two daughters and sons-in-law: Karen (James) Savage, New York; Barbara (David) Kay, Monaca; five grandchildren: Leigha Zeiber, Courtney (Doug) Anzur, Brandon (Amy) Zeiber, Alisha (Randy) Taormina and Alaina (Michael Short) Kay; four great grandchildren: Jayden, Ethan and Emmalynn Anzur, and Carsyn Short
Friends will be received on Friday, December 30, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor James Trusel, officiating Private entombment will follow at Sylvania Hills.
Full military honors will be extended by the members of the Beaver County Special Unit on Saturday at 10am in the funeral home.
