Anna Mae Caplinger

Anna Mae Caplinger, 79, of Center Township, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 while under the compassionate care of the staff at Providence Health and Rehabilitation. She was born May 16, 1940 in Monaca, daughter of the late John and Martha (Abert) Greiner. In her early years she had worked at F. W. Woolworth Company, Beaver Valley Mall and later at Penn State Beaver. However, faith and family, being a wife, mother and homemaker was most important to Anna Mae. She was a self-taught seamstress who could sew anything from clothing to stuffed animals and homemade dolls. The dolls are now cherished family keepsakes held dear by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anna Mae also enjoyed baking. Everyone savored her delicious chocolate, cherry and pumpkin pies cradled in her best kept secret flaky crust. She was a woman of deep faith and member of The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, Monaca where through the years she nurtured many friendships within the JOY Circle. In addition to her parents, Anna Mae was preceded by her husband: Emmett Melvin Caplinger, Sr.; a great grandson: Joshua Nicol; and a sister: Francis McCreary. Anna Mae is survived by two sons: Emmett “Melvin” (Mary Ann) Caplinger, Jr., Zephyr Hills, FL; John (Cara) Caplinger, Crawfordsville, IN; one daughter: Christina (Tim) Borway, Center Township; four grandchildren: Susan Galina, Jennifer Nicol, Samantha Feller and Cayden Caplinger; two great grandchildren: Amy McKinney and Brandon Nicol; two great great grandchildren: Abriella and Case McKinney; her sister; Alma Evans, West Mayfield; loving extended family. Friends will be received on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Her funeral service to remember, honor and celebrate her life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Angela Toombs-Smith, officiating. Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to The Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, 819 Washington Avenue, Monaca, PA 15061.
