Anna Mae Kampi passed away on March 31, 2021, at the age of 90. For the last four years, she was under the care of staff at Rochester Manor and Villa. Prior to that, Anna Mae was a long-time resident of Monaca Heights and a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Monaca and Christian Mothers.
Anna Mae was an avid bowler and enjoyed her Wednesday nights with her team at the bowling alley. She made every holiday special by hosting her family and using her baking skills to make the house feel comfortable and homey. She could also be seen in her backyard planting flowers and weeding her garden. Anna Mae and her sisters made numerous trips together to the nearby casinos, making memories and bonding over slot machines and buffet meals.
Some of her children will remember growing up with a young, energetic mother, while other children who came later will reflect on the love of a more mature and experienced parent. But what was a common thread that all of her children will remember is her unconditional love and the sacrifices she made to provide a happy and safe home for everyone. We will never forget her laughter, love and support over the years, and her dedication to her family will always be remembered and cherished by all.
Anna Mae was born in Freedom, PA on January 12, 1931 to Angelo and Mary (Conrad) Bartimac. She graduated from Freedom High School and on April 28, 1951 at the age of 20, she became the wife of Emil Kampi. Anna Mae and Emil celebrated 62 years of marriage prior to her husband’s death in April of 2013. Together they raised six children: Sue E. Baker (Chip), North Sewickley, Thomas A. Kampi (Laurie), Madison, OH, Jeffrey A. Kampi (Nancy) in Brighton Twp., Louis E. Kampi (Vivian) in Shaler, Lori A. Thaler (Sean) in Williamsburg, VA, and Brian E. Kampi (Christine) in Marshall Twp. Anna Mae had 10 grandchildren, Emily Winkle (Jason), Melissa O’Polka (Rob), David Kampi, Jennifer Kinney (Shawn), Kati Shanahan (Blake), Andrew Kampi, Gina Kampi, Lauren Kampi, Matthew Kampi, and Caitlyn Thaler. Her four great grandchildren are Rylee and Tyler Winkle, and Jonathan and Kara O’Polka.
Along with her husband, Anna Mae had three siblings that preceded her in death: Phillip Bartimac, Carmella Strausser, and John Bartimac. She is survived by siblings George Bartimac, Stella Lorenz, and Norma Kraynie.
Friends and family will be received on Saturday, April 3, 2021, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum) where a Blessing Service will be held Monday April 5, 2021 at 11:30am.
