Barbara Ann "Bacia" Gibson, 88, of New Brighton, Pennsylvania, went to be with The Lord on June 21, 2026. Born October 14, 1937, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Bernice (Orzechowski) Olczak.
Throughout her life, Barbara carried herself with a gentle grace and a steady, faithful spirit that brought comfort to those around her. Her generosity was not merely a virtue, but a way of moving through the world—marked by kindness, forgiveness, and a sincere concern for those in need. She was deeply cherished, and her presence left a quiet, lasting imprint on the lives of family and friends.
Barbara found simple joy in working in the yard, particularly burning yard waste and junk mail, caring for her indoor plants with a talented green thumb, and where her patient care and steady hands reflected the warmth she offered so naturally to others. She was adored by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, where the love she gave was felt by all.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Gibson, a son, James E. (Donna) Gibson, and a granddaughter, Jessica Snow.
Surviving are four sons: Donald J. (Brenda) Gibson, John T. Gibson, Robert H. (Kim) Gibson, and David P. (Jamie) Gibson; and three daughters: Catherine Krut, Carol Gibson, and JoAnn (Jon) Schmidley. In addition, she is survived by numerous adoring grandchildren (Darcy, Lauren, Amanda, Ashley, Cassie, Tori, Katelin, Gunnar, Vincent, Raelee, Nicholas, Benjamin, and Laci) and 7 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for their tremendous care and support to Barbara and her children.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2026, 10am at the St. Cecilia worship site of Our Lady of the Valley Parish.
