
Beverly Ann (Jamieson) Gomersall, of Ohioville, formerly of Ambridge, passed away Thursday, January 28, 2016, while under the compassionate care of her family and the staff of Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley.
She was born July 19, 1930 in Sewickley, PA, daughter of the late George and Florence Jamieson of Ambridge, Pa.
Beverly graduated from Ambridge High School in 1948 and Beaver Valley Hospital School of Nursing in 1954. She worked as a head nurse at D.T. Watson home for Crippled Children from 1954 until 1981. From 1981 until 1991, she served as camp nurse at Heritage Boy Scout Reservation in Farmington, PA. She also taught CPR at Heritage to staff and Boy Scouts and served as manager at Heritage Reservation. She was the first female member of Order of the Arrow, first female member of Endg-Lechahouna O.A. Lodge. Beverly holds Vigil Honor of the Boy Scouts and the Silver Beaver award from the Greater Pittsburgh Council Boys Scouts of America. She belonged to Wood Badge and served on the staff of Wood Badge 110 and Boy Scout Jamboree Staff at A.P. Hill.
In 1991, Beverly returned to Beaver County where she worked on staff at Cub Scout Day Camp. She was a Boy Scout member for 47 years, started the Troop 699 Auxiliary in Economy. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Economy for several years.
Beverly was a charter member of Economy Methodist Church where she served as the first president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a volunteer tutor for Adult Literacy.
In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her son-in-law: Mitchell Yoho; brother: Donald Jamieson and sister: Virginia Jamieson.
Surviving to celebrate her life and mourn her loss is her husband of 61 years: Robert Gomersall, Sr., whom she married in 1954; three sons Robert Jr., Industry; Scott (Casey) of Rogers Ohio; and Eric (Sharon) of Tiltonsville, Ohio; one daughter: Heidi Yoho of Industry, PA.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way; her daughter-in-law: Diana Zanella, Zelienople.
Friends will be received Sunday, January 31, 2016 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday, February 1, 2016 from 1 to 2 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
