Charles T. Hill, Jr., 79, of Daugherty Twp. and Beaver, passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Beaver Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Beaver Falls surrounded by loved ones following a lengthy illness.
He was born April 9, 1938, in Monaca, PA in his grandparent’s home. He was the son of the late Charles T. and Virginia (Shively) Hill, Sr. Charles was a loving husband, father, and grandfather with a remarkable sense of humor. He retired from BASF and PPG Industries as a Senior Research Chemist. Charles enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, and church. His faith was very important to him. He was a member of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church Rochester, where he served on church council, sang in the choir, and helped with various softball leagues. Charles proudly served his country with the U.S. Army.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Charlotte Milne.
Charles will be greatly missed by his wife Barbara (Haney) Hill of 53 years, which they recently celebrated; one son and daughter-in-law: The Rev. Dr. Douglas (Karrie) Hill Littleton, CO; one daughter and son-in-law: Mrs. Susan (Craig) Mamone, Beaver; and 7 grandchildren which he adored: Marissa Mamone, Sarah Hill, Chase Mamone, Alexa Mamone, Jeremy Hill, Marco Mamone and Micah Mamone.
Friends and family will be received Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-8 at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Additional viewing will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 393 Adams Street, Rochester where his funeral service will begin at 11 a.m.
Military honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit, 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. Private interment will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made, if desired, to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 393 Adams Street, Rochester, PA.
