

Charles A. Yanchak, age 79, of Aliquippa, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born March 2, 1946, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Metro and Josephine (Portugallo) Yanchak. Charles was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during Vietnam as a Third Class Petty Officer (SHB3). He was stationed on the U.S.S. Vermillion where he was the ship's barber. Charles retired from NOVA Chemical with over 37 years of service. He was Catholic in faith and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hopewell. His hobbies included going to car cruises, listening to oldies, watching Steelers and Pirates games, traveling, and above all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Karen Yanchak, one son; Jeff (Cynthia) Yanchak, one daughter; Carrie (John) Oldham, and four granddaughters; Emily and Allison Yanchak, and Abigail and Lily Oldham. Also surviving is one brother; Richard (Gerri) Yanchak, a nephew; Chad (Desiree Rice) Yanchak, and a sister in law; Sally Yanchak.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Yanchak.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Hopewell on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 10:00am. A committal service, including full military honors, will take place at the mausoleum chapel at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park immediately following Mass. All services entrusted to the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
