DeHaven Thompson, age 84, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at his residence. Dee was born on August 22, 1939, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Leslie Thompson and Ruby (Roane) Collins. Dee was a loving father and grandfather, working tirelessly to provide for his family. He was a longtime television reporter/anchor for WPXI in Pittsburgh. He was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, never missing a home Steelers game. DeHaven had the privilege of personally interviewing the great Roberto Clemente, as well as many other prominent Pittsburgh sports athletes.
He is survived by two daughters; Shannon Thompson and Tara (Brandon) Arthur; and two grandchildren; Bree Arthur and Braxton Arthur.
In addition to his parents and his stepfather; John Collins, he was preceded in death by a sister; Geraldine Denson.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 for 6-8pm at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum).
