
Donald E. Farland, Sr., 85, of Conway, passed away Sunday, February 8, 2015 while under the compassionate care of the staff at Cambridge Village, Chippewa. He was born December 26, 1929 in Sewickley, son of the late George and Adeline (Grimes) Farland. Donald was an honors graduate of Ambridge High School. He retired from the Aliquippa Works of Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation with nearly 40 years of service as a maintenance electrician.
In his leisure, he enjoyed playing bingo with his friends at the Baden American Legion and also at Cambridge Village. During earlier years he was a member of bowling leagues at the Conway Lanes and Fair Oaks Lanes. Donald was an avid reader of any genre of books. He was a lifelong loyal fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded by his wife: Shirley (Sheets) Farland in 1993; a sister and brother-in-law: Margie and Casey Kopulchak.
He is survived by four children and their spouses: Debra (John) Corsetti, New Brighton; Donald and (Joyce) Farland, Jr., San Diego, CA; Diane (Randy) Middlebrough, Economy Borough; Dale (Monica) Farland, New Brighton; 10 grandchildren: Brian (Stephanie) Corsetti; Kimberly (Patrick) Leslie; Amy, Lisa, Brent and Kevin Farland; Derek Gromacki; Amanda Middlebrough; Samantha and Aiden Farland; 4 great grandchildren: Jordan and McKenna Corsetti; Mason Leslie and Kayden Gromacki; his brother and sister-in-law: Robert (Kitty) Farland of Virginia; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Carole and Ken McGuckin, New Brighton; several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received Wednesday, February 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, February 12, 2015 in the funeral home. Private interment will follow in the Garden of the Lilies, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
