

Donald James Snyder, 82, of Beaver Falls, passed on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Heritage Valley, Beaver. He was born May 8, 1934 in Butler, son of the late James Emerson and Gladys (Margel) Snyder. He was affectionately known as “Unc” by his family. Don proudly served his country with the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. During the Korean War he had been stationed in Alaska and Japan. A Paratrooper and Ranger, Don was wounded in action and awarded The Purple Heart.
He was retired from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board as a Control Board Agent. Don had also been formerly employed as a Police Officer with the Boroughs of Rochester and New Brighton. In his leisure, Don enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was Roman Catholic in faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Kathleen (Spaulding) Snyder; his sister: Shirley Pavlinich and nephew by marriage: David Weber.
Donald is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law: Edward and Mariann Snyder, Butler; Timothy Snyder, Rochester; brother-in-law: Jacob Pavlinich, Beaver Falls; nephew: Michael Pavlinich, Beaver Falls; niece: Joan Bixler, Beaver Falls; niece: Christina (Michael Korcan) Weber, Chippewa Township; several great nieces, nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
In honor of his wishes, private services and interment were arranged by SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. Military Honors were provided by the Vietnam Veterans of America, Beaver County Chapter #862. On line condolences may be offered at www.saul-gabauer.com
