

Donald Phillip Young, 85, of New Sewickley Township, passed on Wednesday, June 10, 2015. He was born July 3, 1929 in New Sewickley Township, son of the late Benjamin and Evelyn (Dewhirst) Young. He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army. He was a former member of the Unionville American Legion Post. In his younger years, Donald enjoyed hunting and camping. He is a retired truck driver with the Teamsters’ Union 261, retiring in 1992 after 28 years of service. Donald was a member of St. John’s Burry’s Church.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his daughter: Donna Ann Young in 1960.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years: Gladys (Barton) Young; one daughter and son-in-law: Regina and Wayne Boyd, New Sewickley Township; three grandchildren: Shawna Lee Solinger; Teresa Lynn Lawrence; and Phillip Boyd; five great grandchildren: Kevin, Audrey and Emily Lawrence; Abigal and Evelyn Solinger; and two little ones who he loved as great grandchildren: Noah and Hannah; five brothers and spouses: Robert and Marcella Young, New Sewickley Township; Richard Young, New Brighton; David and Bonnie Young, Chippewa Township; Walter and Carol Young, Rochester Township; John and Marlene Young, West Virginia; two sisters: Alice Davis, Freedom and Eleanor Hicks, New Brighton; many nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received today, Sunday, June 14, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2015 at ST. JOHN’S BURRY’S CHURCH, 1835 Route 68, Rochester, with his pastor, Rev. Win Groseclose, officiating. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Military Honors will be presented by members of the Beaver County Special Unit. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
