"Every cardinal I see in the morning at the bird feeders or in the trees, I talk to, knowing it is Grumpy or Tom, or any of those that I've lost, coming to check in. Knowing that, and believing that, has helped me when I have felt their loss the most and have made it a little easier. But adding another loved one to the list of winged visitors is never easy, and this is another tough one.
Nonna, you were one hell of a woman. A spit-fire, sassy, unintentionally funny, and stubborn woman that wasn't afraid to speak her mind or stand up against things that you didn't believe in. I wish I had had the chance to hear about your younger years, and about anything and everything that made you who you were. I am forever grateful you got to meet my children, my two beautiful kids that made you a Great-Great Grandma (and boy, did you loathe when we mentioned that because you refused to admit to being old enough to have the title!). I wish I had come around more as I got older, and as my kids got older, and I will always wish that we had just a little more time. Unfortunately, that is one thing that we won't have---a little more time.
But I hope to see you among the cardinals that visit every once in awhile, and that you'll listen to the big updates I share in those quiet moments when it is just me and you in the trees, and you'll look down and smile, proud and happy of the little life I'm living. I hope you found Grumpy, he's been waiting patiently for you. Please give him all the love from us still here. Fly high, you will be missed by so many. I love you. ❤️" - Alexandria Long, great grandchild
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 2 - 4 pm at the Saul-Gabauer Funeral Home, 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA 15074.
