

Dorothy Mae Yonkovich, 71 of Rochester Township, passed away, Monday, July 4, 2016 at Heritage Valley, Beaver. Dorothy was born October 2, 1944 in Bridgewater, daughter of the late Walter Lane and Agnes Jane (Yeager) Ambrose. She was affectionately known as “Butch” by family and friends. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Family and friends were most important to her. A woman of deep faith, she was a member of her neighborhood prayer circle called LIPS, Ladies in Prayer and Service. She was a former member of TOPS and the Cracker Jack Bowling League. One of her hobbies was making silk floral arrangement for all occasions.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by four brothers: Clarence “Sonny” Ambrose, Richard Ambrose, Bert Ambrose; and David Hemmerline; and one sister: Harriet Haney.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 51 years: Harry F. Yonkovich, Jr.; her daughter and son-in-law: Tammy and Eric Beers, Anniston, AL; two sons and daughters-in-law: David and Kelly Yonkovich, Fuquay, NC; Kurt and Taciana Yonkovich, Damascus, MD; five grandchildren: Jonathon and David Beers; Lauren Yonkovich; Julia and Christian Yonkovich; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Arthur and Elzena Ambrose, Smithfield, TX; Jack and Ruth Ann Ambrose, New Brighton; two sisters: Thelma Cramer, Beaver and Anita Cramer, Vanport; numerous nieces and nephews; three sisters-in-law: Patty Ambrose, Rochester; Frances Ambrose, Freedom; Sharyn Hemmerline, Pittsburgh; one brother-in-law: Richard Haney, Pompano Beach, FL; and her lifetime, dear and special friend: Gloria Robbins, Ocala, FL.
Friends will be received on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A service to celebrate her life will be held at 6 p.m., in the funeral home, immediately following the visitation with Pastor Lance Chapman, officiating. Private interment will be in the Garden of the Lilies, Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
