Ernest “Ernie” Yeager, 77, of Chippewa Township, passed away unexpectedly, Friday, January 3, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 22, 1936 in Coal Ridge, OH, son of the late Andrew and Mary Rita (Ferencik) Yeager. Ernie retired from the Aliquippa Works of Jones & Laughlin Steel with over 30 years of service.
He was a talented, self-taught wood craftsman who enjoyed endless projects around his home or at his daughter’s home. His craftsmanship will be treasured for years through the sentimental keepsakes he created with wood. Ernie also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Pine Run Sportsman’s Club, the Beaver Valley Sportsman’s Club, and the Unionville American Legion. He will forever be affectionately remembered as a guy who always liked to “get someone’s goat” or shared in the laughter of a good practical joke. He was a United Methodist in faith.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by a brother: Andrew Yeager.
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years: Emmajean (Venn) Yeager; one daughter and son-in-law: Kathy Jo and Craig Miller, Carmichaels, PA; his grandson: Noah, who lovingly knew him as PaPaw; one brother and sister-in-law: John and Ruth Ann Yeager, Beaver Falls; two sisters: Phyllis Rowley and Mary Fraser, both of Baden.
Friends will be received Wednesday, January 8, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (GPS 848 Sunflower Road, adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoluem).
