Esther Mae Barnes Greathouse

Esther Mae (Barnes) Greathouse, 89 of Enon Valley, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 7, 2015, while under the compassionate care of Gateway Hospice and Haven Convalescent Home, New Castle. She was born May 11, 1925 in Monaca, daughter of the late Benjamin Harrison Barnes and Clara Bell (Case) Barnes.

Esther was an accomplished artist in the medium of oil on canvas as well as an excellent seamstress. She loved animals and nurtured any strays who need a little tender loving care. During retirement years she and her husband Robert enjoyed traveling and camping throughout the United States. A woman of deep faith, she taught Sunday School for a number of years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years: Robert Lee Greathouse on August 30, 2007; and a daughter: Joyce Bonet.

Esther is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Kenneth and Nancy Greathouse, Ellwood City; William and Kathy Greathouse, New Brighton; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

In honor of her wishes, her service was private, attended by the family at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., Rochester, with interment next to her beloved husband Robert in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
