Frank Harton Hacko, 82, of Beaver, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, while under the compassionate care of Good Samaritan Hospice, Heritage Valley, Beaver. Frank was born May 2, 1933 in Fallston, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Harton) Hacko, Jr. He retired from Prudential Insurance and with his entrepreneurial spirit founded and operated the Frank H. Hacko Insurance Agency that his sons operate to this day. He was a very active political figure in Beaver County, a former secretary and treasurer for the AFL-CIO and a Past President of the Beaver County Labor Council.
As a youth, Frank was an outstanding athlete, playing baseball and basketball for Beaver High School. Exceptionally talented at baseball, he had a tryout for the Pittsburgh Pirates but a lingering shoulder injury hampered his chances of making the team. None the less, Frank has always been an avid Pirate fan and also a fan of the Steelers. Frank had a love for the outdoors and a passion for hunting and fishing that he passed on to his children and grandchildren. He most enjoyed walleye fishing in the Canadian lakes and bow hunting in the beautiful woods surrounding his family camp at Marienville, PA.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy (Hole) Hacko.
He is survived by his wife: Shirley (Azzarello) Hacko; five children and their spouses: Sharon (Wes) Seidel, North Lawrence, OH; Suzanne (Robin) Adkins, Ft. Myers, FL; Frank E. “Butch” (Stephanie) Hacko, Brighton Township; Kenneth R. (Laurie) Hacko, Vanport; and Jason (Christina) Hoegle, Key West, FL; 15 grandchildren: Johnathan, Scott, Rachael, Robin, Matthew, Kristin, Daniel, Alex, Nicholas, Ross, Marko, Lewis, Donovan, Dorian and Julian; and 11 great grandchildren.
Friends will be received Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 1 to 4 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). His funeral service will immediately follow the visitation. Private entombment will be in the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum. If desired, memorial contributions may be directed to the Beaver County Humane Society, 3394 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001. On line condolences may be offered at www.saul-gabauer.com
