George E. Parkinson

He was born on September 21, 1926 in Philadelphia, PA to Christian and Catherine (Freitag) Parkinson.

George was a WWII, United States Navy Veteran. During his time in the service, he met and eventually married Claire Evelyn Measel (US Naval Nurse) on September 7, 1946. He moved to New Brighton, PA in 1949, then to South Beaver Twp. in 1986. While residing in New Brighton, he was a member of the Volunteer fire department from 1958-1983. George was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of New Brighton, PA since December 1949.

Along with his parents, George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years (March 9, 2015); a son, David Christian (Oct. 31, 1987); a brother, Harry and two sisters, Catherine Klopher and Eva Becker.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Joni Parkinson; a daughter and son-in-law, Dr. Janet and Fred Engle and a daughter Patricia McDanel. He was blessed with six grandchildren; William McDanel and wife Jennifer, Adam McDanel, Dr. Kristen and husband, Patrick Peabody, Erin Parkinson, James (Jake) Engle, Kevin Engle and three great-grandchildren; Olivia Ann Peabody, Mason James Peabody and David Christian McDanel; two brothers, Edward Paul Parkinson and Walter Albert and wife, Dorothy Parkinson; Brother-in-law; Donald Measel and his wife, Phyllis.

Friends will be received Friday, December 4, 2015 from 2-7pm at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC. 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). Friends are invited to the funeral service to be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1001 10th Avenue, New Brighton, with Rev. Frank Kantz officiating.

Private interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum.
