

EAST PALESTINE
Grover William Carothers, 75, of East Palestine, OH passed peacefully, Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 26, 1942 in New Brighton, PA, son of the late William H. and Vera (Shanor) Carothers. He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U.S. Army.
A truck driver by trade, he retired from Egner Coastal (Chemical Lehman) and was a member of the Teamsters’ Union.
He is survived by a special companion: Clara Custer; a sister: Dorothy Carothers Jacobs; a daughter: Kelly (Ed) Sherrill, Darlington; a son: William (Crystal) Carothers, New Castle; two grandchildren; Ronny and Amber Mirro; three nieces: Sherry (Jim) McDonald, Monroeville; Sandy (Tim) Asbacher, Sykesville, MD; Ruth (Kevin) Burnsworth, Chippewa Township; and his best friend from childhood: Gary Kennedy as well as his faithful dog Penny.
In honor of his wishes, cremation arrangements are by the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., at Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 6, 2017 from 2-4 p.m., at the East Palestine Moose Lodge, 43 W Rebecca St, East Palestine, OH 44413. The family wishes to express thanks to Dr. Jay Funkhouser, the staff at the Medical Center, and the staff at Brighton Wellness and Rehab for all of their kind and compassionate care during the past year.
