

Hedy was a devoted and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She taught preschoolers in Sunday School for 34 years in Baltimore, MD, where she attended church. She spent many hours reading her Bible and praying for family and friends. Hedy enjoyed raising her family, sewing, cooking, and playing bingo at Blair as a pastime.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years: James Perkins, in 1994; a son, Melvin, in 2009; a son-in-law, Tommy Kitzmiller, in 2011; and brothers Ray Miller, Glen Miller and Jack Miller; as well as, her sisters, Susie Woody, Arlene Edwards, Ruth Morris, and Maude Combs.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Harold and Nancy Perkins, Chippewa Township; Ronald and Delores Perkins, Kannapolis, NC; her daughter, Carol Kitzmiller, Kannapolis, NC; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Perkins, Durham, NC; eight grandchildren: Ron Jr., Angela, Marcie, Rachel, James, Eryn, Michael, and Jesse; 18 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law: J.B. and Diane Miller, Stoneville, NC; her sister Laura Haines, Bakersville, NC; many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are by the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., Rochester. Private entombment will be in the Gardens of Faith, Baltimore, MD. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date in North Carolina.
