James M. Lema

James M. Lema, 65, of Beaver, Pennsylvania, passed away on November 1, 2026. Born December 14, 1960, James was raised in Bellevue in the North Hills of Pittsburgh and graduated from North Hills High School.

A man of steadfast dedication and quiet courage, James was known for the strength he carried into every season of life. His resilience and work ethic were not simply admired—they were relied upon by those who served alongside him, and cherished by those who called him family.

James proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for 27 years as an Aircraft Technician. Serving multiple tours, including Desert Storm and Desert Shield, he rose to the rank of Master Sergeant. His long and honorable career reflected a faithful sense of duty and a generous commitment to others. James retired from the Air Force in 2007.

Above all, James was a beloved husband and father. He was the devoted husband of Kathleen Lema for 35 years, and his love for his family was evident in the time he gave and the steady presence he provided. He is survived by his children: Katie Thielman (Isaac), Jilliane Lema, James M. Lema II, and Julianna Lema; and by his grandchildren: Karli, Isaac, and Noelle. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

James is also survived by his siblings: Joe Lema ( Lisa), Mary Ann LaLonde, Sandy Dunn (Eric), and Patricia Brooks (Herb). He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Laura Lema, and his brother, Gilbert Lema.

In his life beyond service, James found joy in the simple, meaningful rhythms that brought people together. He loved dancing and playing drums, walking and working out, traveling, and spending time with family. A big baseball fan, he also carried a faithful devotion that shaped his days, regularly attending Mass with steady reverence.

James will be remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude—for a life marked by bravery, generosity, and devotion, and for the love he gave so freely to those around him.
