Janet Diane (Stuehling) Zoeller of Brighton Township, 82, passed away peacefully, surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren, on Nov. 30, 2016 at Heritage Valley Beaver after a recent fall in her home.
She was born in Rochester, PA on March 7, 1934, the daughter of the late John and Ethel (Lawson) Stuehling. She was a 1952 graduate of Monaca High School and helped to organize its class reunions and picnics for many years. She attended Bethany and Geneva Colleges and, after receiving a degree from Garfield Business School, was secretary to the plant manager at National Electric in Ambridge.
On March 31, 1956, she married Fred Zoeller at First Presbyterian Church of Monaca. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 31, 2016.
An avid and lifelong reader of a wide range of books, she had an exceptional vocabulary and was a founding member of the Great Books Club of Beaver. Reflecting her many adventurous summers at Goose Cove Lodge in her beloved Deer Isle, Maine, and for sharing her knowledge of the island, she is acknowledged in the preface of Secrets of the North Atlantic by Edward Rowe Snow. She was a member of Park United Presbyterian Church, Beaver, the Phoenix and Consolidated Glass Society, the Beaver Valley Concert Association and the Bridgewater PTA.
Janet and Fred were devoted partners in all things and set a steadfast example for their family whom she adored and whose interests she always placed ahead of her own. She was at her best when surrounded by family and friends, or simply sitting on her front porch swing, and always saw the kindness and good in everyone. Her favorite encouragement to others was to “Have fun!”
She is survived by her husband; four children, Kristine Johnson of Brighton Twp.; Elizabeth Miner (Mark) of Brighton Twp., John Zoeller (Melissa) of Monaca, and Jennifer Keriotis (Brad) of Hopewell Twp.; and three grandchildren, Haley Johnson, Alec Keriotis and Trevor Keriotis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Stuehling, sister Catherine Edge and son-in-law Raymond Johnson.
Friends will be received today, Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 2 to 6 p.m. in the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester (adjacent to Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6 p.m. to conclude the visitation.
The family extends its gratitude to the physical rehabilitation and critical care staffs, notably Keri Anderson and Kelly Moore. Instead of flowers, the family requests that, if desired, donations may be made to the Monaca Library. On line condolences may be offered at www.saul-gabauer.com
