Jean Lenore Ciufo, 91, of New Brighton, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019. She was born August 13, 1927 in New Brighton, daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Dean) Bickerstaff. During most of her working years she enjoyed waitressing her family’s restaurant “Johnny’s” and a few other restaurants in Beaver County.
Family was most important to Jean. She was a great cook and candy maker. Everyone loved her delicious fudge. In her leisure, Jean liked playing pinochle and gin rummy with family. Jean listened to a variety of music and watched variety TV shows. Her favorite late night show was the David Letterman. She and her brother Bill simultaneously watched Pittsburgh sports on the TV while listening to color commentary on the radio.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband: Lawrence Ciufo; her sister: Carol Lawrence; and brother-in-law: James Whitworth.
Jean is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Bonnie (Larry) Falso, Chippewa Township; Debbie (Kenny) Brandenberger, North Sewickley Township; two grandchildren: Kellie George, Ellwood City; Tim (Barb) Brandenberger, Sewickley; four great grandchildren: Christian, Brandon, Noel and Noah; one sister: Mildred Whitworth, Chippewa Township; one brother and sister-in-law: William (Barb) Bickerstaff, Aliquippa; her brother-in-law: Herbert Lawrence, Beaver Falls; numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends; her very dear and special friends: Bev and Jack Ross.
Friends will be received on Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., Rochester. A Blessing Service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, in the funeral home. Private interment will be in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park.
