With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Jennifer "Jenny" Ann Kotouch, age 55, of Baden, formerly of Economy Boro. Jenny passed away on September 17, 2025, leaving a lasting imprint on the lives of all who knew her.
Jenny was the beloved fiancé of Todd Balmer, with whom she shared a beautiful life and love for 21 years. She is survived by her devoted parents, Judy and Les Kotouch; her loving sister Allison (David) Pane; and her cherished nephews Michael (Kelly), Joseph (Megan), along with her adored great-nieces Claire, Ellen, and Chloe and great-nephew Regis.
Jenny is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Debbie and Lee Faltenovich, and Judy and Bob Stolar, as well as many cousins and extended family members who will miss her deeply.
Though Jenny faced the challenges of special needs, she led a life rich in independence, love, and joy. Her warm heart and generous spirit touched the lives of so many, but it was her deep love for her family that stood out the most. She brought an undeniable brightness to every room, especially when surrounded by her nephews, nieces, and extended family, whom she held dear. Jenny had a unique way of making everyone feel loved, often through the comfort of her hugs, and especially her affection for her little ones.
Jenny’s life was filled with meaningful pursuits, beginning with her work as a Candy Striper at Sewickley Valley Hospital, where she showed a natural inclination to care for others. She later worked in the hospital’s linen department, retiring after 20 years of service, a testament to her dedication and strong work ethic.
Her zest for life extended beyond her career. Jenny was an active participant in many community activities, most notably at the Patterson Township Fire Hall, where she and Todd became beloved volunteers, contributing their time and energy to the annual Lenten fish fry fundraisers.
Jenny’s love for sports was another important part of her life. As a young adult, she excelled at swimming with the Special Olympics, and she participated in youth softball in Economy as well as Women’s Ambridge Cross Country. Later in life, Jenny found joy and camaraderie in bowling leagues, where she not only had fun but also showed her competitive spirit and skill.
A truly special person, Jenny was a constant reminder to all who knew her of the power of kindness, love, and perseverance. She leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. Jenny will forever be remembered for her big heart, her infectious smile, and the way she made everyone feel like they were the most important person in the room.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time, where her family and friends will come together to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jenny’s memory to the Patterson Township Fire Hall or the Special Olympics.
