John Alvin Evans, 91, a life-long resident of Rochester, passed on Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born September 25, 1926 in Rochester, son of the late William and Mildred (Jacobs) Evans. John proudly served his country with the U.S. Navy during WWII.
He retired from Conrail, Conway Yards where he was a Clerk with over 40 years of service. In his leisure, John enjoyed duck pin bowling and was a member of the Freedom S.O.I.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a brother: Jack Hogue; two sisters: Mary Sawchuck and Angeline Mignanelli.
John is survived his wife of 63 years: Evelyn (Guido) Evans; one son and daughter-in-law: Gary and Faith Evans, Rochester; his brother and sister-in-law: Dennis (JoAnn) Hogue, Monaca.
A blessing service was held at the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC. with interment in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park. On line condolences at www.saul-gabauer.com
